After hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas in 2019, Florida became a temporary home for a number of Bahamian residents. The CHC was asked by partners in the community to help with the healthcare needs of these individuals.

Rabanette was referred over from Catholic Charities as she needed medical care for her and her eight year old son, Eli. CHC was able to assist Rabanette with a regular checkup, blood work and an annual women’s health exam without any cost to her. Her 8 year old son was also seen for a school exam. During the examination, the pediatrician determined that Eli needed to see an optometrist. He was referred to our optometrist that examined him and prescribed him glasses. CHC covered the cost of the glasses. Rabanette could not be more thankful for all the help that she received, and will continue to receive if needed. She even sent a video of Eli reading a book and not struggling to see the letters. He loves to read now!
