Over the years, Dr. Sharon M. Townsend, MBA, has been a practitioner, teacher, mentor, planner and organizer of medical care.

In 2017, she saw the opportunity to volunteer as a family practitioner at the West Palm Beach Community Health Center. The board-certified anesthesiologist, who attended medical school at the University of the West Indies in Mona Campus Kingston, Jamaica, had recently retired after more than 40 years of clinical practice and was seeking a chance to use the new skills she had acquired as a family practitioner.

So far, Dr. Townsend’s experience at our clinic has been challenging but tremendously reinforcing and satisfying.

Dr. Townsend said: “Once again, I had the opportunity, through the West Palm Beach Community Health Center to demonstrate a commitment to the community by joining forces as we strive to make an impact on the lives of others. Our facility provides a unique set of services including medical, optometry, medication management, medical referrals and gynecology reflecting the primary healthcare needs and resources of the community.”

She added: “I have a lot of pride in helping patients, students, and administration and being part of this endeavor that supports the underserved population in the West Palm Beach area.”
