Security Guard Improves Health Through Our Remote Patient Monitoring and Telehealth Program

When Brenda Walton came to Community Health Center of West Palm Beach, she was struggling with high blood pressure and diabetes.

“I wanted to feel better,” said the Riviera Beach resident.

Three years later, the 60-year-old security guard is feeling much better, thanks to our Remote Patient Monitoring program.

Here’s how the program works:

Brenda has a scale, breathalyzer, and blood pressure checker at home that allow her to constantly monitor her vital signs.

Twice a week, Brenda enters the readings on her devices into an online app and the results are monitored by our Center’s medical staff.

“If there’s any increase in anything, I find out right away and deal with it,” she said.

In addition to monitoring her health, our staff has also taught Brenda the importance of eating better, cutting out fried food from her diet and having vegetables and fruits with her meals.

They have taught her to walk and exercise daily.

“This has made a big difference for me. I do what they have told me and I’m feeling better,” she said.

Brenda sees our medical staff through our Telehealth system on her phone as well as in-person visits at our office.

Plus, Brenda comes in for an annual eye examination and mammogram test.

If Community Health Center of West Palm Beach didn’t exist, Brenda said she would be going to hospital emergency rooms for her treatment, which is expensive and inconsistent.

“This center is so helpful in our community. They monitor my health. They care about me. I’m really grateful,” she said.
